What are medical paper rolls and towels used for?

Medical paper rolls and towels are disposable, single-use products used to cover examination couches, support hand drying and maintain hygiene at key touchpoints in clinical environments. Their design helps reduce cross-contamination between uses.

How do paper rolls support infection control?

By providing a fresh, uncontaminated surface for each use and being discarded immediately after, paper rolls and towels help minimise the risk of pathogen transfer between patients, staff and surfaces.

Can paper towels be used for hand hygiene in clinics?

Yes. Paper towels are commonly used at clinical handwashing stations to ensure hands are dried hygienically after washing, which is an important component of infection prevention practices.

Are there different types of paper rolls for different clinical needs?

Yes. Rolls vary by width, ply and perforation to suit examination couches, hand stations, equipment covers or controlled dispensing environments.

Where should paper rolls and towels be stored?

These products should be stored in clean, dry areas away from direct contamination risk and organised to align with clinical stocking practices to ensure availability during service hours.

How do I choose the right size?

Choose based on surface area coverage needs — wider rolls for examination couches; narrower or multifold towels for hand hygiene — while considering dispenser compatibility.

Do these products help reduce waste?

Controlled dispensing and perforation features help minimise unnecessary use and support predictable consumable usage.

Can paper rolls be used in non-clinical areas?

Yes. They are also useful in washrooms, staff hand hygiene stations, break rooms and support spaces where hygiene is a priority.

Are there environmentally preferable options?

Some paper rolls and towels use recycled or sustainably sourced fibres, supporting environmental goals while maintaining hygiene performance.

How often should they be replenished?

Frequency depends on traffic volume and clinical activity levels; high-use areas may require daily restocking.

Are these products safe for all patients?

Yes. They are designed for safe contact with intact skin and surfaces, but should not be used as wound dressings unless specifically indicated.

Can they be used during procedures?

Paper towels may support drying where clinically appropriate, but clinicians should follow procedural asepsis guidelines for specific tasks.

Do paper consumables need special dispensers?

Many clinical settings use wall-mounted or countertop dispensers to support controlled, hygienic access.

Can rolls be customised for roll holders?

Yes. Compatibility with specific dispenser types should be verified during procurement.

How do I manage inventory for paper rolls and towels?

Establish usage baselines by area (e.g., hand stations vs treatment rooms) and plan stock levels to ensure uninterrupted supply during peak activity.
